The Korean women's U17 national soccer team will compete with Spain, Colombia and Ivory Coast for the round of 16 at the FIFA U17 Women's World Cup 2025.

FIFA hosted a draw for the tournament in Rabat, Morocco on Tuesday (Korea time). Korea was in Group E with Spain, Colombia and Ivory Coast.

Korea will play its first match against Ivory Coast on Oct. 19 local time, with Spain on Oct. 22 and Colombia on Oct. 25. All three matches of the group stage will be held at the Mohamed Ⅵ Football Academy in Rabat.

The tournament, which will involve 24 teams, will be divided into six groups of four teams, followed by the top four teams in each group, ranking first and second, and third in the group, advancing to the round of 16 tournaments.

South Korea will face a tough opponent from the group stage.

Spain was a strong team that topped the 2018 and 2022 competitions, and lost to North Korea in the 2024 final after a penalty shootout. Colombia was also the runner-up at the 2022 competition.

Korea was grouped with Spain and Colombia in the 2024 tournament. It was then heavily defeated by Spain 0-5, and tied Colombia 1-1.

In previous records, he had one win and two losses against Spain and two draws with Colombia. Against Ivory Coast, they met for the first time in a recent three-nation friendly tournament in Morocco and won 1-0.

Korea's best record at the U17 Women's World Cup was a victory at the 2010 Trinidad and Tobago tournament, the first FIFA-hosted tournament in Korean soccer history.

Since then, however, the team has failed to make significant achievements. It failed to make it to the finals at the 2012, 2014, 2016, and 2022 competitions, and failed to make it to the group stage at the 2018 and 2024 competitions.

Established in 2008, the U17 Women's World Cup was held every two years, but has been changed to be held every year starting from this year. The U17 Women's World Cup will be held in Morocco for five years from this year to 2029, and the number of participants has been expanded from 16 to 24. 메이저놀이터
